How to Measure Rio Automatic Awnings?

How To Measure (Basic Install)

Width:Window opening size plus a minimum of 150mm each side.

Drop:Top of fixing point to bottom of window. As a general rule, the Hooding and/or valance should be clear of the window when looking out through the window. In most cases mounting up to the eave or 3 bricks above the window will achieve this.

Important Note

When measuring the width, it is important to ensure the fixing points are going into brick or into the meat of the brick.If the fixing point is in the mortar it will not hold for the long term or if the fixing point is close to the edge of a brick the risk of blowing the brick is increased. In some instances it may be best to take the awning further than the 150mm to achieve this.

How To Measure (Post to post)

Most posts are 90mm x 90mm. For smaller size posts extra brackets (angles) may be required. Speak to your Manager or Awning Installer for further information.

How to Measure Single Automatic?

Width: Outside edge of post to outside edge of post neat. (The skin/arm will be 30mm less than Headbox each side)

Drop: Top of fixing point to bottom of finish point. The example to the right can either finish at the handrail or the awning could go to the floor. The picture below shows the awning finishing at the brick posts.

Important Note

When the awning finishes below the handrail, the customer would have to lower the awning from outside the patio area, as they may not be able to reach through the balustrade.

How To Measure Multiple Automatics?

Most posts are 90mm x 90mm. For smaller size posts extra brackets (angles) may be required. Speak to your Manager or Awning Installer for further information.

Multiple Automatics

Width:

BLIND A: Outside edge of post to centre of next post.

BLIND B: Centre of post to outside edge of post. (The skin/arm will be 30mm less than Headbox each side)

Drop: Top of fixing point to bottom of finish point. The example to the right can either finish at the handrail or the awning could go to the floor. The picture below shows the awning finishing at the handrail.

Important Note:

When the awning finishes below the handrail, the customer would have to lower the awning from outside the patio area, as they may not be able to reach through the balustrade.
