How to Install Folding Arm Awning

How To Install

Important Notes Before You Start

1.When unpacking your awning, take care to protect the awning from accidental damage or soiling.

2. Do not drop or drag the awning on the ground.

3. When removing the protective wrapping from the awning, do not use a knife or box cutter to the wrapping as you could accidentally slice into the fabric of the awning.

4. The awning has been packed to you fully assembled but it is important to follow this instruction manual to securely fasten the mounting brackets to the house and to install the awning.

5. Please read the instruction manual completely before installing the awning.

6. You may need an assistant so at check measure this information should be clearly written on the paperwork.

7. Left and right references are as you are facing the house.

8.You will need to provide the correct fixing screws, bolts etc… to ensure a strong and lasting installation.

Before Commencing

Installation of this product is a two man job

1.Once your location and mounting style has been determined, review the area, confirming that you have clear span for the entire width of the awning with no light fixtures, downpipes, doors that open outward or any other obstructions.

2. If you are wall or fascia mounting the awning and you have a door or window that opens outward, both the awning arms and the valance will need to clear this when retracted.

3. Make sure you have a dry and clean space to work in and to perform the installation.

4. Be careful when lifting the awning into the brackets, tightening the bolts and adjusting the arm pitch as fingers can be injured during this part of the installation.

Step One

Measure up from the mounting location starting on the left side and make a mark at the desired mounting location, then the right side.

Using a chalk line string, snap a level line the width of the awning

Step Two

Hold the bracket in the required mounting position and mark clearly the holes for drilling (work with one bracket at a time).
NOTE: For the OPEN FAA the end brackets need to be within 50mm of the arm support brackets. This will ensure the awning does not twist.
For the CASSETTE FAA the brackets need to be located to fit between the location sticker on the underside of the Hood. See PIC.
Check the bracket for level with a spirit level and make adjustments if necessary. The bracket needs to be plumb otherwise the awning will not fit into the bracket as easily.

Step Three

Secure the brackets to the wall using the correct fixings and check that all brackets are level and line up to each other. If the wall is not flat then you may need to shim the brackets to achieve this.

Step Four

OPEN FAA: Remove the bolts on the wall bracket. Lift the awning and put the back mounting bar into the wall brackets.

Lock the awning in place by replacing the bolt and nut on the wall bracket. Tighten the nut to ensure the awning is securely attached.

CASSETTE: Remove the Pressing Block and the retaining screw of each wall bracket. Turn the adjustment screw with a 6mm hex key till the distance between the locking nut and the front of the cradle is 45mm.

Doing this will ensure that the awning will sit in the brackets when lifted into position.

Lift the awning into place by sliding it up into the back of the bracket. SEE PICS. Lock the awning in place by returning the Pressing Block and retaining screws and tightening off.

Step Five

ADJUSTING THE PITCH (ANGLE OF THE ARMS)

OPEN FAA:

• Loosen the locking nuts.

• Lift the arm to take the strain off all the bolts and turn the Jack Bolt to adjust the pitch. You may need to use a socket to turn the Jack Bolt. You can now adjust using your fingers to turn the Jack Bolt.

• Use the spirit level on the front bar to check for level.

• When level, tighten off the locking nuts.

CASSETTE:

• Loosen the locking nuts.

• Lift the arm to take the strain off all the bolts and turn the Jack Bolt using a 6mm hex key to adjust the pitch.

• Use a spirit level to check for level.

• When level, tighten off the locking nuts.

Important Note:

It is critical to make sure the height at the front bar is sufficient for the customer to walk under without having to bend down. Speak to the customer first before setting the pitch.
